What unites us is our passion of History and our love for Miami County, our home. We have and display the most comprehensive collection of our County’s past as well as the history of this general area of Kansas. We are solely dependent on the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, and we hope you join us in our efforts. This website has over 80 pages of information and another 200 pages are currently prepared for publication. This site generates over 200 visitors per day and we expect this to increase dramatically in the months to come. Our dedicated volunteers give their time and talent and we hope and pray that you can lend us a helping hand with your resources and donations, allowing us to cover our expenses and plan for future expansions.

Volunteer Programs The Miami County Historical Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Without volunteers, we could not function. We need docents to guide visitors around the museums, and workers to clean, label and accession artifacts. We need volunteers to do general carpentry and electrical work, paint, dust, sweep, pack, unpack and create displays and exhibits. We need folks with passion for History helping with research and their writing skills. Although these jobs are unpaid, they are extremely important and most volunteers feel enormous satisfaction in the work. Volunteering is a good way to meet people, get involved in the community and also to learn new skills. Most volunteers work at least three hours a week, while some are able to do more. The Museum is extremely flexible in adjusting to meet the schedules of its volunteers. If you can’t work a set pattern each week, volunteer as a substitute who can be contacted for temporary duty. Give us a call or better yet, come and visit. We can’t wait to meet you!
